Amanda Sue Wen Leong

Biography

Amanda Leong is a Research Assistant Professor in the Nuclear Engineering Program, part of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Virginia Tech. Amanda obtained her bachelor’s in mechanical engineering with honors research distinction and a minor in Nuclear Engineering in 2017 at The Ohio State University. In 2022, she received her doctorate in Mechanical Engineering and certificate in Nuclear Engineering. Her background in research includes corrosion studies in aqueous environments in light water reactors under normal operation and extreme conditions such as accident environments. She was also involved in various research projects that focused on the development of advanced nuclear reactors, such as molten salt and liquid metal reactors.
