Mingyang Zhang

Mingyang Zhang received his Master degree in Mechanical Engineering in Dec. 2017 from Virginia Tech, and Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering in Jul. 2017 from Shandong University. He is pursuing PhD degree in Dr. Jinsuo Zhang’s Nuclear Materials and Fuel Cycle Research Center from Aug. 2018.

His research focuses on the thermodynamic properties of high-temperature Mg-based molten chloride salt used in third-generation concentrating solar (CSP) plant as heat transfer fluid. The research is primarily focused on the redox potential and activity of the corrosion products, as well as the activity and vapor pressure of each salt component by conducting electrochemical experiments and using computational modeling methods.
